Autism: Flower Essences to Consider For Autistic Symptoms

Are you wondering what the best flower remedies are for autism?  If so, I’d like to share our story.  We have been using flower remedies to address symptoms of Autism with my daughter for many years.  As a result, words can’t express the difference they have made for our family!  There are so many ways they have helped over the years.  Therefore, personally, I’d say the ONLY times when flower remedies didn’t help with the drama (aka autism symptoms), is when they stayed in their bottles.  But they never help anyone there!

Obviously, those with Autism face some big challenges.  So there can be issues with handling emotions and other social struggles.  Flower remedies have been the one thing that always seemed to help in some way or another.

Flower Remedies… Can They Help For Autism?

Blessed Flower Essences Main Content Background ImageI have seen Flower remedies naturally address or dial down all sorts of behaviors associated with autism.  All without harmful side effects.  So I’m talking helping with the social, learning, speech, or withdrawal.  As well as things like obsessions, general stress handling, & intolerances in general.  But those are things we could use some help with.  Really, I mean who doesn’t need more patience or tolerance sometimes?!

Flower remedies are the safest and the best way I know to emotionally and mentally support autistic children.  However, flower remedies can also work on adults with autism spectrum disorders.  So I’ve seen changes and breakthroughs in those “set in their ways”.  In fact, I hope to “prove it” one day.  I hope you will join me in this important autism research.  In other words, document & share your experiences to begin building a body of “proof”.

Flower Remedies Safe & Easy to Use in Autism

You can try flower remedies with any other therapy you are doing.  For us, they always seem to enhance other therapies.  It’s like they help assimilate the therapy better somehow.  So you can try them with other things like behavior, diet, meds, sensory, floor time or other therapies.

They are tasteless drops that slip easily into the water bottles of the pickiest eaters.  Therefore, they can even be sent to school in water bottles completely undetected.  I’ve never had any child who wouldn’t take them!  Try that with MSM or Cod Liver Oil… Good Luck with that – YUK!  But you can also put them in juices, smoothies, detox baths, aromatherapy or herbal teas.  As a result, they boost the efficacy of all other healing tools.

The difference flower essences have made in my daughter’s maturity, progress and outlook on life have been a beautiful thing to witness.  In fact, years ago it was my twin daughters that decided “the world needs these flower remedies too”.  The change in our family’s life has been a huge blessing!

Flower Remedies For Autism…  My Top Picks

Below I have the remedies listed by their impact on the broad symptoms of autism.  In other words, the first is most “classic autistic”.  I tried to keep them in order of likely relevance.  But they all seem to have their place & value.

Keep in mind that autistics may share some commonalities.  However, they are still INDIVIDUALS.  Therefore, they could have other symptoms that aren’t covered here.  If you are still unsure about the right flower essences to choose to address all patterns, I’d love to work with you.  am a flower therapist available to consult.  I work through telephone, email, instant messaging, training or other special events, and in person.

Flower Essence Blend Bouquet ImageMake a Custom Remedy

If you find many of these resonate with your child, you can always make them their own powerful remedy.  I recommend as you go through the list rate them 0 – 10.  With a 0 meaning they don’t display the symptoms or if they do they’re not as bothersome or impactful.  Conversely, those that are the biggest problems being a 10.  Then based on the highest numbers you add those to their custom remedy.

I know… it is an extensive list!  Do many if not most strike a chord?  Then, I know you’ll ask this question.  “How Many Can I Use at One Time?”  There are many practitioners in the field who don’t believe anyone should take more than 5-7 at a time.  Here’s the thought on why more isn’t necessarily better when it comes to remedies… The natural energetic vibrations in flower essences act as healing messages to the body.  If you give too many instructions at the same time it might lose its clarity.  Think of this way… The More voices in a crowd of people speaking or screaming the harder it is to make out what is being said!

Personally, I don’t believe there is any harm in using too many essences but there could be consequences if someone is not getting the right one(s). So I guess it might be a fine line between making sure you have enough without diluting (or muffling) some of the healing instructions.  So when it comes to picking the best flower remedies for autism, you just have to keep learning & trying what most matches or resonates at the time.  Also muscle testing can come in handy to help determine the right flower essences to address autistic symptoms.

Hai, I am ramakrishnan living in chennai INDIA having autistic adult, non verbal, hyperactivity, prone to cold and throat infection, repetitive behaviour pl suggest medicines

I’m sorry, I don’t know how I didn’t see this sooner. As far as the throat infections & flower remedies specifically, I would go with Crab Apple, Beech & Walnut. For Repetitive try combination of White Chestnut & Rock Water. So sorry for the delay. Hope this helps. Also, you may want to try using diffuser with Thyme, Rosemary, & Oregano. Also a liquid chlorophyll, silver, vitamin D, & a good probiotic. Hopefully you can source all these things in India! You may want to talk to local Dr about a round of Ivermectin which you can probably get easier that we can in the US.

We have a 20 year old boy on the spectrum. Within the last few months he stutters so long it can take 2 minutes to get a response from him for a yes or no answer. He is also doing several repetitive, ritualistic movements when he sits down. This is also a relatively new symptom.
What Bach flower should we use to support these areas.

How frustrating for him! Usually Scleranthus is my favorite place to start for Stuttering. Plus, anything with Chestnut in the name is great for repetitive behavior. But I’d start with White Chestnut for all things repetitive. Rock Water is my favorite for “Ritualistic”. Cherry Plum should have him feeling a little more in control. Impatiens might also add support if it is due to distraction. If it is more of a confidence thing than Pine or Larch are worth taking a deep dive.

My 3 year old daughter laughs out loudly when me or her elder sister feels sick or cry.
Only this seems to be very abnormal.
She is a perfectionist, extremely adamant about what she wants.
      Please suggest the appropriate medicine

This is probably from inappropriate hysteria in a crisis which would be Rock Rose. If it she turns into a clown or attention seeking during stressful times, It could be Agrimony. If it looks more like just being “mean”. To clarify, I could take “Extremely Adamant” as something on that spectrum… Then it is likely Vine.

    Hi
My autistic son is 9 years old. He is under speech therapy for the last 3 years. Using one or 2 words to communicate his needs. He knows lot of words. Doesn’t form sentence though. What would you suggest to improve his communication skill?

    • Dr. Darla Nofziger, ND

Your comment got treated as spam. So sorry, I haven’t responded until now. This seems like a pattern or sequencing thing. Since he knows the words but just doesn’t string them together feels like maybe Gardenia. Also, I feel the Delosperma Flower Remedy may also be appropriate here.

Honestly, I’d likely just go with the Anger Flower Remedy blend rather than trying to figure out which one. Might be Willow, Holly or Vine or just a very frustrated non-verbal Heather type.

    Hello dr ,
Good evening . My son is 11 years old autistic non verbal .oral apraxia . Unnecessary laughs, gazing through the corner of his eyes. Can you please recommend which one to use ,

Your comment got treated as spam.  So sorry, I haven’t responded until now.  Hopefully this info is still helpful to your family or someone else with similar issues…!  I feel like Oral Apraxia boils down to a loss of control.  Therefore, I like Cherry Plum might be the best place to start there.  As far as the inappropriate laughing is Rock Rose.

The sideways glancing is a great question!  I feel like it might be helped with this combination.  If Cherry Plum & Rock Rose doesn’t address the behavior, I feel like Scleranthus, Water Violet, or  Impatiens would be the next remedies I would explore for this.

Hi, i am father of 9 year old Autistic son, non verbal, no expressive language lots of sensory issues. Stims such as running around and jumping. Carving to eat something crunchy. Can you pls suggest some medicines for him. Thank you for your help.

    Reply
    • Dr. Darla Nofziger, ND

I feel like your Son has 2 things going on that is adding to the behaviors of not communicating at all & stimming. 1st Pathogenic Overgrowth (Craving something crunchy is likely a mild form of bruxism / teeth grinding) a classic sign of parasites / pathogenic microbes of any kind. These microbes are likely causing the Sensory issues. The 2nd is improperly breaking down proteins especially gluten in grains & casein in dairy. These mimic & get processed by the brain like opioids.

Therefore, If this were my child… I would 1st address the sensory issues starting with 2 things. 1st having him swallow capsules or eat Activated Charcoal on an empty stomach. Charcoal will soak up the neuro-toxins being left behind by the pathogenic overgrowth he likely has. Most likely strains are Bacterial, Yeast or Fungal in nature. 2nd would be with Similase GFCF specialty enzyme with his meals unless he is totally Gluten Free & Casein Free.

My preferred approach with improving his microbiome & eliminating invasive pathogenic strains would be using the Systemic Formulas Bio Tinctures. I would start with using both TACX (Liquid Multi & Gentle Detox) & TGOLD (Immune Support). Then after a week or 2 when the sensory issues have subsided with charcoal adding T3 (Bactrex) for a few weeks & then switch to T4 (FungDx). Give a week break after you do 1st round of T3 & T4. Then you’ll want to repeat the cycle of T3 & T4 & break. Enzymes should be given with meals ALWAYS. Activated Charcoal use anytime sensory issues peak – This probably happens after being sick. Also, keep using the TACX & TGOLD while cleansing. I always muscle test for number of drops & times per day etc. But, based on his age I would think likely it would be around 3-5 drops 2 or 3 times per day depending on acuteness, severity, size & weight etc. Hope this was helpful!

Hello Dr. My 15 year old has autism, is very verbal and bright but has difficulty accessing her intelligence. She is behind in school and has difficulty making friends, something she very much desires. She dreams of the future (somewhat unrealistic ideas) and things being easier but is easily discouraged. She has motor delays and has very little energy. Prefers to listen to music or watch YouTube in her room alone. Thankfully she is no longer aggressive and angry 🤞. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you!

It sounds like “difficulty accessing her intelligence” & being behind in school might be an indication of Chestnut Bud. It sounds like Dreaming of Future might be Clematis. Easily Discouraged is usually Gentian. Motor Delays… I would look at Scleranthus, Oak or Rock Water. For Making friends & preferring to be alone I would look at Water Violet.

Hi Sarah your comment was marked as spam. But in response to picky eating.. Zinc, Digestive Enzymes, or Probiotic intestinal flora deficiencies, are many times the biochemical issues associated with food aversions. As far as essences I would look at Beech, Walnut & Crab Apple in that order. Or perhaps a combination with all 3.

About Dr. Darla Nofziger, ND

Her strong passion (AKA Aspie Obsession) for Bach's Remedies began while attending a clinical practitioners course call Practicum.  It was one of the course modules required to earn her Certified Natural Health Professional.  At the time, she didn't feel this small amount of training of the Bach remedies adequately prepared her for working with clients.  So she decided to use muscle testing to work up the remedies.  But, as the remedies came up she studied whatever came up thoroughly.  It was not long before she had an intimate knowledge of each flower essence.  Further, that she had a real life situational example of what each one looked like in the real world.  Plus it quickly became a client favorite.  Especially working with new clients.  She could quickly tell people she had never met before, their greatest emotional hangups & personality traits based on what came up.  To this day, it is still one of her favorite ways to work.
